Stalwart Moving Co. is a family-owned removalist based in Reservoir. We specialise in relocating homes, apartments, offices and shops across Melbourne’s inner north, the Greater Metropolitan area and regional Victoria.
How we work
You tell us where you’re moving from and to, and what’s coming with you. We reply with a clear estimate based on our published hourly rates. For homes with four bedrooms or more within about ten kilometres of our depot, we come and look first, free. On the day, two or three trained movers arrive with one or two high-roof vans, wrap your furniture in blankets, take apart what needs taking apart and put it back together at your new place.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
* Vans built for the inner north. Our high-roof IVECO vans each carry 20 cubic metres, like a small truck, but they fit the laneways, driveways and tight parking of suburbs like Northcote and Preston, where trucks can’t. They’re new, clean and fully equipped with the tools for the job.
* Big moves without a big truck. For a large house we send two or three vans at once, with up to six movers, so loading happens on several fronts at the same time. A 10-tonne truck seats three.
* Prices you can check before you call. Our hourly rates are published on our website: $220 an hour on weekdays for two movers and one van, $240 on Saturdays and $270 on Sundays.
* A depot in the north. We charge from when we leave our Reservoir depot to when we’re back. For a move in Reservoir, Preston or Thornbury, that’s 10 to 30 minutes of travel, not an hour across town.
* 5.0 stars from 200+ Google reviews, including customers who have moved with us two or three times.
* The owner is on the job. Javier Avila (Joe to most of our customers), who founded the company, quotes every move himself and still works on most of them: it’s how he trains the team and keeps the highest standards.

Stalwart was founded by Javier Avila, a former removalist manager with a background in business, marketing, and construction. He started the company with a clear purpose: to offer a moving service grounded in care, honesty, and professionalism.
Today, Javier leads a team that reflects those values. He continues to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, keeping things personal, practical, and focused on service.
Stalwart remains proudly independent, with strong ties to the Melbourne community and a growing list of happy clients.
